Inspriation and Culture

My art is a visual offering — a journey of remembrance and reclamation. Inspires Goddess is born from the meeting of worlds: my African and Indo-Jamaican heritage, my English and Irish ancestry, and the echoes of gods and goddesses carried through blood, history, and migration.
My Indian great-grandmother, Madu, was among those brought from Delhi to St Mary, Jamaica, as an indentured labourer after slavery. In that displacement, customs, language, and faith were stripped away. Through my art, I reach back across generations to grasp fragments of that lost knowledge — the shimmer of Hindu ritual, the rhythm of ancient deities, the sacred feminine energy that once guided my ancestors.
Growing up in North London, surrounded by Hindu communities, I was drawn to the shrines glowing in friends’ homes, the hypnotic movements of Indian dance at school, and the vibrant saris of Southall’s “Little India.” These moments planted seeds — quiet awakenings of belonging and curiosity.
My work weaves together symbols from Hindu cosmology with echoes of Wiccan, Celtic, and Pagan spirituality from my English and Irish roots. I look to ancient temples, standing stones, and mythic landscapes for guidance — places where earth and spirit still converse.
Through colour, texture, and sacred imagery, I honour the divine feminine as she appears across cultures — a universal goddess reborn from fragments of memory, migration, and magic. My art is both invocation and healing — a way of finding home through history, ancestry, and spirit.
